After 8 years of writing a novel I am finally going to publish it as an eBook. I decided to take the plunge and JUST DO IT! It is called Every Hidden Thing and I have just sent it to be formatted. When I get it back I intend to publish via the Smashwords platform.

I have always been surrounded by books. My parents had books, books and more books. I haunted the library as a child and when I grew up I worked in books shops. When I had children and they went to school I ran the school library. And my husband keeps on telling me there are too many books in the house. They somehow seem to pile up on every available surface almost of their own volition. I fight back and donate mounds of them to the local library but somehow it is a losing battle. I just find more taking their place! For the last eight years or so I have been wrestling with writing a novel and what a fierce tussle it is. I am about to publish this magnum opus in a few weeks time. I feel as I did when I gave birth to my children; nervous but excited!

  1. Congratulations! What an achievement. Going to check it out now on FB.

  2. Congratulations and best of luck! (It took me about 10 years to complete my first book)

    • Thank you so much for the encouragement. When I look back at all the drafts I realise that I had the story sorted long ago. It is the refining process that takes the longest! Publishing is quite a scary thing to do and self-publishing is quite a learning curve. I feel as though I’m standing on the end of a high diving board and looking down, but having got this far I can’t go back. As Caesar is supposed to have said, The die is cast!

  3. Congratulations, Elaine. I look forward to it’s long awaited debut. By the way, I love your red beret.

    • Thank you for your comments Lynne! I’ve had my docs back from the company that formatted them and I hope by the end of the month to have the book out there. And the red beret is my favourite!

  4. You’re way ahead of me Girl ! congrats.
